6th Grade Science/Challenge Science

Throughout history, people have observed the Earth around them, oceans below them. and the skies above them. Over thousands of years, scientists have built a body of knowledge based on these observations. Earth science is the term for this knowledge about Earth and its place in the universe.  Students are exposed to a wide variety of topics in Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology, Astronomy and Environmental Science. The emphasis is a hands-on approach where the students use a wide variety of labs and learn the scientific method. There are many opportunities for students to design and construct their own science labs.

Students are encouraged to develop intercultural awareness by studying the history and development of science in different countries, and its influence on the status of these countries today.
