This year my prep is period 6. I am available then as well as before and after school.
State Benchmarks for Art
This year the state will require Classroom Based Assessments in Art for the 8th grade. These will be based on these State Benchmarks in the Arts.
Elements and Principles of Art
The Elements of Art and the Principles of Design are the basic vocbulary for the creation and understanding of Art.
Students will learn to understand and articulate how these fundamental building blocks are used in their art work.
Class Expectations
These are my expectations and grading scale for my students.
Student Supplies
There is a $18.00 Art fee for the year for this class. This will provide most of the supplies for the entire year. However I do expect each student to come to class with a pencil, eraser and a ruler.
Fridge List
This is a list of ‘stuff’ that you may think of as junk, but artists perceive as great finds, and would be greatly appreciated at anytime during the year.
Artist of the Week
Artist of the Week worksheets is the warm-up done at the start of each class. The worksheet is worth 25 points a week on the grade.
Artists Birthdays
Each day there will the name and date of an artist born on that day on the white board. For 5 points extra credit you look up the artist on the web. Write 5 original sentences about what you learned about the artist, then copy paste an example of the artist work under the sentences and turn it in. There will be a birthday every day.
Extra Credit
Extra Credit is available on each unit and on any drawing on unlined paper. Students will be making a sketchbook for their own use that they can use for these drawings.
If students finish early there are drawing tutorials in a file box on the counter. They are to choose one and work on it.
Glass Fusing Unit
The glass fusing unit will begin on Nov. 16th. Please join us to learn about this amazing medium.
