These podcasts/vidcasts are of concepts used all year. Use as a way to get a concept you missed while absent; a refresher; or a way to show your parents what you are learning.
These podcasts are set up to run on video iPods, as well as computers that have Quicktime. There are also some podcasts that are audio only and these play on all mp3 players. The time for each podcast is included in the title. For example, the first podcast has an indicator that states (5m39s) which means 5 minutes, 39 seconds.
Some podcasts have multiple file type options depending on how you wish to use it. I will use numbers to designate a different podcast. Same podcast number, same podcast (look for the file extention name--mov, m4v, mp3--to see file type. Different podcast number, different podcast option.
To get a copy of Quicktime for free, go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/win.html
These PODCASTS are filmed in an Ed Wood style--one take, no editing, and little technical planning. The errors add a human quality to it all. Enjoy. I use the term "podcast" in most cases to refer to both vidcasts (video files) and podcasts (audio files) as vidcast is a newly coined term in the media. Furthermore, the number following the term podcast/vidcast is only for easy reference when referring to a particular vidcast or podcast.
.m4v (WILL PLAY ON COMPUTER AND IPOD) m4v is a video podcast that plays on your iPod video as well as most computers. TO PLAY ON iPOD--Download to computer and drag and drop to iTunes and iTunes will place it in your "movies" folder. TO PLAY ON COMPUTER--download to computer, double-click to open, and Quicktime will play.
.mov (WILL WORK ON MOST COMPUTERS) I prefer this format for its multiple uses. Files with this extention can be played on the computer. It allows both video and audio to be played on the computer. If it is audio only, a time bar will appear with a play button. If video, a screen will appear with play button. Quicktime software is needed; nearly every computer has this. TO PLAY--Download to computer, double-click to open. To get free Quicktime software, go to the above "apple" link.
.mp3 (AUDIO FILE) A mp3 is an audio podcast that can be played on mp3 players and computers with audio software. TO PLAY--Download to computer and drop in audio software. Most computers will open up applicable audio sofware when file is opened.
