Parents!!!

We will be working on our first major project - an 8 paragraph essay relating a movie to a topic we are studying in class.

Purpose: The most important purpose is for students to learn about each step to writing a well-researched, "publishable" essay.  We will have lessons about research, pre-writing, writing, editing, and revising for a final copy.

Important info:

* Kids must choose a movie that shows one of 7 topics we will study this year: Government, Economy, Indians/Westward expansion, WWI, WWII, Cold War, Civil Rights movement.

*Kids must write an 8 paragraph essay about the movie, how it shows specifics facts about that topic we will study, and how the topic relates to Washington State History.

*It's not an essay summarizing the movie, rather an 8 paragraph essay about the topic and how it relates to Washington State History - they are simply to use the movie to explain their topic.

*Kids were given an assignment sheet that is very structured - use this as a checklist to make sure everything is completed!
