WSU-VANCOUVER CAMPUS TOURS :. Prospective WSU-Vancouver students are invited to register for a guided tour of the campus in Salmon Creek, a few miles northeast of the confluence of I-5 and I-205 freeways. Student ambassadors will conduct the tours and answer questions about the school and its academic programs, students activities and services. Tours will be conducted Mondays at 4:00 p.m., Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m., Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., and Fridays at 1:00 p.m. To register for a tour, call (360) 546-9527.  Curious about what it's like to be a student at WSU Vancouver? Ask a student campus ambassador at ambassad@vancouver.wsu.edu.

TOUR CLARK COLLEGE CAMPUS:. Prospective Clark College students and their families are invited to arrange for a tour of the campus, guided by a "student ambassador." To register for a campus tour, go to www.clark.edu/visit or call (360) 992-2961. Tours last about one hour.

JOB CORPS ORIENTATION SESSIONS:. Each Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Job Corps office in the Vancouver Worksource headquarters at Town Plaza, 5411 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver. Job Corps is a federal program that provides free career and academic training to students whose income meets guidelines. Qualifying students ages 16-24 may earn a GED or high school diploma and train for any of a number of high-demand careers. For more information, go to www.sanfranciscoregion.jobcorps.gov.   • SENIORS - - APPLY FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID:  As soon as possible AFTER Dec. 31, 2010, seniors who plan to attend any type of community college, technical college or university during school year 2011-2012 should file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This is the only way a student will find out if the federal government will offer a student any type of grant or loan to help pay for post-high school education/training. Guides explaining the on-line FAFSA application process will be available in the Hudson's Bay Career Center in early December. Students and parents may apply on-line, starting Jan. 1, 2011, at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

     

  • TAKE AN ON-LINE PSAT/SAT PREP CLASS:   You may choose to take an online PSAT/SAT preparation class offered by the Vancouver School District.  The guiding instructor is Chris Erdman, career specialist at Skyview High School.  For $15 you will get ready to do your best on the SAT and earn .5 miscellaneous credit. Hudson's Bay students should attend an orientation at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 16. You will register for the class and pay the fee at this session. Questions? Contact Mr. Erdman at chris.erdman@vansd.org.

  • REGISTER TO TAKE SAT:   To take the SAT on October 9, you must register by Sept. 10 to avoid paying the extra late-registration fee. Juniors who plan to apply to any four-year colleges or universities should take SAT and/or ACT for the first during grade 11. All four-year colleges and universities will accept scores from either SAT or ACT for admissions consideration. To register, go to collegeboard.com.  The Hudson's Bay code is 481-475. Low-income students should inquire in the HBHS Counseling Center about getting a fee waiver. The extra-fee late registration period will be Sept. 11-24.

  • 2010 NATIONAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE FAIRS:   Oct. 11 at Rolling Hills Community Church, 3550 SW Borland Rd., Tualitin, OR, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. or Oct. 12 at Portland Christian Jr./Sr. High School, 12425 NE San Rafael St., Portland, OR, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. For more information, go to www.nccf.us.

    Job Corps
    U.S. citizens or legal residents ages 16-24 whose income meets Job Corps guidelines may apply to enter this federally funded program.
