WASL name change
The Washington Assessment of Student Learning is now known as Measurements of Student Progress for grades 3 through 8, and the High School Proficiency Exams for grades 10 through 12.
Spring 2010 High School Proficiency Exams
This schedule is required for 10th-grade students. It is given on a test-by-test basis for students in grades 11 and 12 who need to retake any section of the assessment.
2010 high school testing schedule Week 1
Tuesday, March 16 Reading session (approximately 120-minute session)
Wednesday, March 17 Writing, session 1
Thursday, March 18 Writing, session 2 Week 2
Tuesday, April 13 Mathematics session (approximately 120-minute session)
Thursday, April 15 Science session (approximately 120-minute session)
The state has scheduled the High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) dates so students can get their results before the end of the school year. Sophomores need to attend school on those test dates; those who miss school on one or more of the testing dates will be able to take make-up tests in mid-August. See the schedule below for August make-up test dates.
Two-hour late start for high school students who are not testing
All high school students who are not taking the HSPE will have a two-hour late start on the testing dates. However, school buses will continue to run on regular schedules. If students ride the school bus during these testing dates, they will catch the bus at its regularly scheduled time. Planned activities will be available for students who arrive at school before the two-hour late start time.
For more information about the HSPE and high school graduation requirements, please visit the website of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) at www.k12.wa.us.
