The doors at Peter S. Ogden are open to families, volunteers and visitors 100 percent of the time. Once per week Ogden welcomes adults from the community to read and work on math skills with second through fifth-graders. Our long-time tutors have developed lasting, valued friendships with the students. A local company gives its employees time to help our students with reading and math. Adult lunch buddies meet weekly with students for lunch and conversation.
We take pride in our diversity at Ogden. Our school is a site for the district’s English Language Learner program. Our students and their families represent more than 17 languages. We have a Spanish-speaking paraeducator and a Russian-speaking paraeducator on staff. Each year we hold a Friendship Fair celebrating various cultures. Each classroom prepares a presentation about a country. Students learn about culture, food and activities of countries throughout the world.
The PTA group helps raise money for student field trips and other activities that benefit the students. All of our kindergarten students attend full-day kindergarten.
