Sarah J. Anderson Elementary School is a busy school community that values cultural diversity and respect. The Dual Language Program, now in its fourth year, teaches students Spanish and English. Students in the program not only learn a second language, they develop relationships that span cultures.
Students at Sarah J. are inspired to do their best. Our teachers meet the needs of all learners—those who need extra help with academics and those who need additional challenges. Sarah J. is a Reading First school, and benefits from a reading coach and instructionally proven reading materials. Physical education, music and art are offered every week.
Activities also keep students busy after the school day ends. Students may join the Boys and Girls Club, which buses students to Hazel Dell Elementary School for sports, games and crafts. Sarah J. also offers extended-day classes for students who need a boost in reading, math or writing.
Parents and volunteers are welcome to take part in the school day. More than 80 dedicated volunteers help with reading and math tutoring, classroom tasks, and field trips.
