Students and staff at Eisenhower Elementary School know that hard work is rewarded. Eisenhower recently received the 2008-09 National Title I Distinguished School for exceptional performance in reading. Eisenhower also received two state awards: the 2008 School of Distinction and the Academic Achievement Award. These titles bring a reward of $20,000 to the school for instruction and materials.
High expectations and an emphasis on academics are a focus at Eisenhower. The school is one of three district sites offering the Challenge program. A literacy program rewards students who work hard at writing. Art, music and physical education enhance our academics.
Students know that their work can make a great difference in the lives of others. Students rallied together to raise $2,221 to provide clean water to children in other countries.
After school opportunities include choir, spirit club and chess club. Students also have the option of joining the Boys and Girls Club at Hazel Dell Elementary for after-school activities.
Students, staff, parents, and community volunteers work together to create the best possible learning environment for Eisenhower students. Students from nearby Columbia River High School tutor our students in reading and math. More than 100 volunteers help with classroom activities, lunch buddies, field trips, and tutoring and mentoring.
