Hough Elementary School is a thriving school supported by volunteers and connected to the community. A number of programs enrich our students’ lives. Hough is one of three district sites for the popular Transitional-First program that bridges the transition between kindergarten and first grade. On-site childcare and the Kids First after-school program provide safe and structured activities beyond the school day.
The Hough Foundation, established in 1992, supports student needs. The Foundation has supported a full-day kindergarten for the past two years. It also runs Hough Pool, which provides swimming lessons to our students and public swimming for the community. The Hough Foundation supports two school choirs with a total of 80 students who perform at community events. A full-time volunteer director oversees volunteers and partnerships for programs like Lunch Buddy and the annual Paddy Hough Parade. A resource coordinator helps to meet basic needs of students by putting families in touch with social services.
Hough is truly a community school where parents, teachers, neighbors, business partners, and the Hough Foundation all have a part in the success of students.
