The business of learning is a focus at McLoughlin Middle School, and our students are dressed for success. McLoughlin has a dress code called Mac Attire. Our students are defined by their character, not their clothes.
Several programs promote success for our students. McLoughlin is one of three middle schools with a Challenge/Honors program designed for high achieving students. The English Language Learner program is for students who are learning English as a second language. The AVID program, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is an elective class offering rigorous curriculum to give students the tools to be successful in school and to pursue college. Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) is a national program that offers after-school enrichment activities in science, engineering and mathematics. C-House is a support program for students who have experienced numerous transitions in their lives.
Mac provides strong academic classes as well as electives including art, choir, band and orchestra. Classes in journalism, yearbook, and technology exploration allow students to pursue personal interests. Spanish as a foreign language gives students a jumpstart on their high school requirements.
After-school activities include athletic and academic options. The Boys and Girls Club provides structured and safe activities at the Jim Parsley Community Center. We welcome parents and partners in all of our efforts to provide a well-rounded education.
