Thomas Jefferson Middle School, the newest middle school in the district, opened in 2004. While we’re a relatively young school, our students, staff, and families feel like old friends. Our location next to Felida Elementary School encourages a sense of community—our older students mentor the younger children, and our parents often volunteer at one or both schools.
Jefferson students are active learners. Our core academic classes are supplemented with electives in the arts and other areas of interest. Students can choose from choir, band, orchestra, drama, Spanish, visual arts, dance, yearbook, journalism, or video technology. Participation in athletics and other after-school activities reinforce sportsmanship and team building.
Our students are good citizens and contribute to the community. Our student leadership group organizes school activities and fundraisers for various community groups. Students also are members of Jefferson’s PTSA. Our outstanding orchestra, choir, and band students are showcased regularly in evening performances. Join us at TJ. We welcome your involvement in our busy, exciting school.
Thomas Jefferson Middle School seeks to create a learning environment that is personal, spontaneous, and responsive to the diverse needs of all students. Our goal is a transformation from the traditional one-size-fits-all model of teaching to a system that addresses the needs of the whole child and achieves success one student at a time.
