Academics are emphasized at Columbia River High School. About 85 percent of our students plan on going to college. Columbia River also is the only site in Southwest Washington to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. The accelerated honors program for high-achieving students is internationally based and recognized by colleges around the world.
Newsweek magazine also recognizes Columbia River. The school made the list of the top five percent of public high schools in the nation in 2007 and 2008. The list is based, in part, on the number of IB and Advanced Placement tests taken by the students at the school.
River is outstanding in academics, but we’re also a great all-around school in every aspect. A strong athletics program offers competition in sports, band and cheer. A wide-ranging arts program provides study in drama, art, pottery, choir, band or orchestra.
River students do what they can to support one another. Each year students from the various after-school clubs sponsor a dance for students with special needs. River is a place where everyone belongs.
