Learning and encouragement are priorities at Lake Shore Elementary School. Staff members, families and students of Lake Shore work together to encourage achievement, cooperation, respect, compassion and accountability. These essential skills help to guide students through school and life.
Literacy is our learning focus. Our Literature Bowl contest encourages students to be active readers. Lake Shore’s literacy center provides individual attention for students at their reading level. Students also participate in Reading Counts, a computer-based program that helps with reading comprehension.
There’s something for everyone at Lake Shore. Students with special needs receive nurturing attention and specialized instruction in our Life Skills classroom. An after-school Spanish class is sponsored by our PTA, which also organizes family nights, ice cream socials and fundraisers. More than 300 volunteers provide support in the classroom and for other activities.
Mission Statement: All staff members are committed to every child's success. All children can learn; differently and uniquely. All staff promote student excellence: both personal and academic. All staff provide a safe learning environment; physically and emotionally. All staff members use on going assessments to determine instructional focus and student needs. Parents are a crucial component to the school community.
