Jeri Swatosh
How to Write an Annotated Works Cited
This handout will offer guidance as you annotate for credibility of each source. Think specific and concise!

A little bit about Jeri…

I received my B. A. in Theatre Arts  from Pepperdine University in 1986 with extensive coursework in English and Music.  I completed post baccalaureate work at Portland State University to earn my teaching credential in 1989, and continued studying at the graduate level at University of Portland where I completed my M.F.A. in scenic design in 1997.

I have been teaching in the Vancouver Public Schools since the fall of 1989.  I started at McLoughlin Middle School and Fort Vancouver High School teaching theatre, language arts, choir, newspaper, and visual art.  I was invited to be on the planning team for VSAA in the fall of 1992, and I have been here ever since!   While planning VSAA, I also taught Survey of Fine Arts at the University of Portland in 1994 and that college perspective was helpful in preparing to work with VSAA's engaged students.

This school year, I am teaching Advocacy, Interdisciplinary Core, AP English Language and Composition,  Music Explore, Theatre Explore, and Lit Arts Explore.  I also plan to assist Margaret Green in the vocal music program, as I completed my choral endorsement in August 2009 with the hope to teach a vocal class here in the next few years.   I am also involved in various aspects of our theatre productions; this year I am scenic designer to our fall production of Little Women directed by Judy Goff.

Away from VSAA, I love to sing and study privately with Janet Lindsley year round and sing in choirs for isolated events.  I am a freelance scenic designer and designed Pirates of Penzance for Mock’s Crest Production a few years ago.  In addition, Icompleted my 200+ hours to become a certified yoga teacher in Anusara Yoga in July 2011 and teach occasionally at the Vancouver Yoga Center and elsewhere. At home, I have a wonderful husband, Joe, and two fabulous boys:  Drew, 21, who is a senior at Western Oregon University studying music composition, and Park, 16, who is previously a VSAA student and now a full time Running Start student.  We share a love for music, theatre,  playing games, cross country skiing, hiking, our pet beagle and chickens, and family movie nights.  In addition, I love to row, swim, garden, and read.  J

Email is the most effective way to reach me: jeri.swatosh@vansd.org.  If you have questions or concerns, please let me know so we can problem solve together.  I can meet after school most days as well, so we will work with our schedules to find a time to meet if that is also helpful.
